The LA backyard deserves better than a thirsty lawn or a slab of concrete.
We started Revive because Southern California homeowners were stuck with three bad options: pour thousands into a natural lawn that turns brown every July, rip it all out for hardscape and lose every square foot of soft space, or settle for cheap artificial turf that looks like a 1990s mini-golf course and smells like a kennel by year two.
Premium pet-grade turf, installed correctly over a properly engineered base, solves all of that. It looks like a lawn. It feels like a lawn. It drains better than a lawn. It cuts your water bill by 70–80%. And done right by a local crew that actually understands LA soil, slope, and HOAs, it lasts 15–20 years.
That’s what we install. Nothing else.

Built for how Angelenos actually live.
Cut your water bill by 70–80%.
A 1,000 sq ft natural lawn in LA drinks 55,000+ gallons of water per year. With LADWP tiered rates climbing every cycle and MWELO water budgets tightening, the math has flipped. Artificial turf pays for itself in 4–6 years on water savings alone.
~55,000 gallons saved per year
Zero mowing. Zero fertilizer. Zero patches.
The average LA gardener bill runs $100–$200/month just for mow-and-blow on a single-family lawn. Add fertilizer, aeration, overseeding, sprinkler repairs — you’re spending $2,400–$4,800 every year to keep grass alive. Premium turf is a one-time install with maybe $50/year in maintenance.
~$3,000/year saved on lawn care
Pet-safe, kid-safe, allergy-safe.
Pet-grade turf with Envirofill antimicrobial infill eliminates urine odor at the source. No more yellow patches, no muddy paws, no muddy couch. For kids, the blade is softer than most natural lawns and doesn’t harbor pollen or pests. Antimicrobial backing and Envirofill are standard on every pet zone we install — not an upgrade.
30+ inch/hr drainage · Envirofill standard
Green in February. Green in August. Green in 2040.
LA’s natural lawn season is short: spring green, brown by mid-July without heroic watering. Premium turf with UV-stabilized fibers stays the same vibrant color year-round for 15–20 years. The grass really is always greener on this side — especially in the third week of August when your neighbor’s yard looks like a desert.
15–20 year lifespan, 365-day green
Six steps. Forty pages of fine print. None of it your problem.
Most of what separates a turf install that looks great in year 10 from one that warps and stinks in year 3 is invisible. It’s underneath. Here’s how we do it.
Free on-site assessment — with samples in hand.
We come out, measure the install area, map your drainage, check soil composition (heavy clay in most of LA — matters more than you’d think), photograph the space, and bring physical samples of every premium pet-grade product we install. You feel the density and see the color in your own sunlight on the first visit. Then we email you a detailed itemized quote within 24 hours. No high-pressure sales, no “today only” pricing tricks.
Custom design & HOA approval.
Once you’ve picked your product, we design the install around your yard’s specific shape, drainage needs, and HOA’s aesthetic requirements. For gated communities — Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Westlake, Porter Ranch, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades — we handle the full HOA submission paperwork start-to-finish, typically approved within 2–3 weeks.
Site prep & demolition.
We strip the existing lawn, weeds, root systems, and 3–4 inches of native soil down to a clean cut. Existing irrigation gets capped (or rerouted to your planting beds — we don’t waste working infrastructure). Edges are squared. All debris is hauled off the same day.

Drainage base — the part nobody else gets right.
3–4 inches of class-2 road base, laid in two lifts, compacted with a vibratory plate compactor to 95% Proctor density, graded to fall away from your home at 1–2% slope. We test the base with a 1,000-gallon water flood before any turf goes down. If your base fails, you’ll know in year three. We don’t let that happen.
Turf installation & seaming.
Turf rolls are laid out and acclimated to ambient temperature for 2–4 hours before cutting (warm turf cuts cleaner). Seams are joined with seaming tape and a seam sealer rated for SoCal heat extremes. Edges are secured every 4 inches with 6-inch galvanized nails. Then we top-dress with Envirofill — the premium antimicrobial infill we install on every project — and power-broom to lift the blades.
Final walkthrough + your warranty paperwork.
We walk every square foot of the install with you. Test the drainage, demonstrate the maintenance routine, hand over the 15-year manufacturer warranty registration in writing. We answer every question. Then we leave you with a clean yard and a number you can call any time.
One main product. A few honest alternatives.
Most installers push whatever turf has the highest margin that week. We’ve standardized on TigerTurf for nine years because the spec-to-price ratio is the best in the SoCal market. The other brands below are real options — just for specific use cases.

TigerTurf Pet
$12–$18 / sq ft installed
Premium pet-grade specs: 30+ inch/hour drainage, antimicrobial backing, UV-stabilized blade that holds color in our brutal LA sun. The most cost-effective pet-grade product in our market.
- 30+ inch/hour drainage
- Antimicrobial backing standard
- 4-color blade with realistic brown thatch
- 15-year manufacturer warranty available on premium lines
SYNLawn Petgrass-55
$14–$18 / sq ft installed
15-year residential warranty — the longest in the industry. Soy-based BioCel backing. EnviroLoc fiber lock for aggressive diggers. Slightly stiffer underfoot than TigerTurf.
K9Grass by ForeverLawn
$18–$24 / sq ft installed
Purpose-built for vet clinics, K-9 facilities, and dog boarding. Knit-in flow-through backing — literally no perforation holes. Worth the premium for 3+ dog households.
Heavenly Greens Tigerblade

4-color blade system fools the eye from six feet. The pick when curb appeal is the priority and the yard is street-visible.

Everything we get asked, answered honestly.
How long does an artificial turf installation take?
Most residential installs are completed in 2–3 working days. A small backyard (under 500 sq ft) can wrap in a single day. Large estates or hillside terracing can run 4–7 days. We give you a firm timeline before the project starts, and we never have multiple jobs running simultaneously — your install gets a dedicated crew start-to-finish.
Does artificial turf get too hot in LA summers?
This is the most honest objection to turf in our climate. On a 100°F day, dark turf can hit 130–140°F surface temp — hot enough to burn paw pads. The fix: we install lighter-blade cool-tech turf, top-dress with Envirofill (its polymer coating runs cooler than raw silica), and design shade placement (pergola, sail, existing patio overhang) into every install. A quick hose rinse drops surface temp by ~30°F. Real concern, but completely manageable.
How long does artificial turf last?
Premium turf installed correctly over a properly compacted base lasts 15–20 years in the SoCal sun. Budget turf or bad install? 5–8 years before fading, matting, or seam failure. The premium products we install carry a 15-year manufacturer warranty against fade and defect.
Will my HOA approve artificial turf?
Under California Civil Code §4735, HOAs cannot ban artificial turf outright — only set aesthetic standards. In practice, every gated community we’ve worked in across Calabasas, Hidden Hills, Westlake, Brentwood, and Pacific Palisades has approved our premium installs within 2–3 weeks. We handle the submission paperwork on every project at no extra charge.
What about drainage during atmospheric river storms?
Premium pet-grade turf drains at 30+ inches per hour — faster than most natural lawns. Combined with our 3–4 inch compacted road base graded to fall at 1–2% away from your home, water moves through the system fast. Our installs handled the January 2024 atmospheric river without standing water or base settling. Drainage failure on artificial turf is always a base prep problem, not a turf problem.
Can you install on a slope or hillside lot?
Yes — LA hillside installs are about a third of our work. We use terraced base prep, extra-deep edge anchoring (8″ galvanized spikes on slopes over 15%), and seaming patterns that account for downhill turf creep. Bel-Air, Hollywood Hills, Calabasas, and Pacific Palisades hillside projects are routine for us.
Is artificial turf safe for kids and pets?
The products we install are non-toxic, lead-free, and pass California Prop 65 standards. Pet-grade products include antimicrobial backing as standard. For kids, the blade is softer than dry natural grass and there’s no pollen or pesticide exposure. The Envirofill we use is inert, non-toxic, and antimicrobial-coated.
Do I need permits to install artificial turf?
For most residential installs in LA County, no permits are required — replacing a lawn with turf is considered like-for-like landscape work. If your project involves significant grading, retaining walls, or hardscape changes, we’ll handle any permitting through LA County or your specific city’s building department. We never start work without all required permits in place.
What maintenance does artificial turf actually need?
Way less than you’d think. Daily: pick up pet waste. Weekly: hose-rinse high-traffic urine zones (if you have pets). Monthly: enzyme-cleaner spray on pet zones, ~15 minutes. Annually: optional pro power-brush ($200–$300) to lift fibers and top off infill. That’s it. No mowing, no fertilizer, no aerating, no overseeding, no sprinkler repairs.
Can you take care of irrigation system removal?
Yes — included in every install. We cap existing irrigation lines at the valve so you can keep them for future use (or for watering newly added planting beds — common when we install a hybrid turf + drought-tolerant garden design). If you want full removal, we’ll trench it out at hourly labor rates. Most clients leave the lines capped for flexibility.
